The Maryland Powerlifting Report 11/4/08

Powerlifting Watch- Money Meets

Powerlifting Watch has created a new page where information for Money Meets can be found.

From Jon- Powerlifting Watch:

In response to visitor requests, I've added a new sub-section to Powerlifting Watch which will list powerlifting meets which offer prize money. The new Money Meets is a sub-section of the Powerlifting Meets section and will include meets with at least $1,000 in prize money. Meet directors should note the total prize money which will be awarded in their meet listing to be considered for this section.

As this is a new section, there may be some meets that will offer prize money which are not yet listed. Please email me with that information and I'll get your meet added. When submitting a new meet, please note the total prize money and, if possible, the prize money distribution.

Money meets will also be listed in the regular Upcoming Meets section.

I hope this section proves to be helpful to both competitors and fans alike.

IPF News:

New Look website- In launching their new look website, the IPF has issued the following statement;

The delegates of the IPF congress 2009 voted for a facelifting of their international federation at 2nd November in St. John's/Canada. They’ve given the IPF Executive Committee encouragement on its way to reestablish the International Powerlifting Federation to a modern and more valuable brand.

Directly after the confirmation for a new logo, the General Assembly was presented a new website. IPF President Detlev Albrings explained: “After my election as new president one year ago in Soelden/Austria, our executive team started to work very close with a German agency for communication management. Its CIO and head consultant Patrick Ries, formerly also active in Olympic sports management, pointed us how valuable our sport is in reality. We’ve known that powerlifting is a great sport by our own for a longer time. But know we’re going forward on a good way to show it more and attentively to public as well as to evolve the organisation of our communication, championship management and sponsoring more professional.”

The official kick off is set with the new logo and the new website. Next steps will follow to improve the internal and external communication via website, newsletter and IPF magazine “The International Powerlifter”.
