The Maryland Powerlifting Report 6/2/08
The USAPL, National Governing Board (NGB) will meet on June 12 prior to the start of the 2008 Nationals in Killeen, TX. A number of items that have been included in the agenda will be considered. Including proposals to limit the kind of knee sleeves that will be permitted into raw competition and honor awards. Maryland's, Sioux-z Hartwig-Gary has submitted a proposal to limit knee sleeves and Virginia's, Phillip Battle (late) has been nominated to receive the prestigious Brother Bennett Award. While there is other rule proposals and well qualified nominees, these two items are those which need our full support.
For each of us in this sport, there are various opinions on how the sport should grow and be competed. Here is a opportunity for you to have your voice heard. Voting members of the NGB include State Chairs and Executive Committee (EC) members. Locally, your state chairs include; Mark Daniel (Maryland), John Shifflett (Virginia) and Niko Hulslander (Pennsylvania). You can also find contact information for various members of the EC and all the State Chairs at the USAPL website. Contact them soon and let them know your opinion. In doing so, you show support in the process which will determine how powerlifting is competed at USAPL meets.
