Phillip Battle

Phillip Battle (Vice-State Chaiman, USAPL Viginia) has died at 30 years of age. Phillip was a lifter, meet director, spotter-loader, referee and a friend to all.

Few details are known at this time. Messages are being posted at the Virginia Message Board.

In a note distributed by Niko Hulslander (PA State Chairman/Garage Ink):

A Brother in Iron has past. Folks, I just recently found out that early this morning; Phillip Battle has past away. Phillip was a meet director, judge, lifter, and very good friend. Most of you may remember most recently that Phillip drove all the way up from Virginia to serve at times as head ref for the Garage Ink Invitational. Phillip was very giving to the sport of Powerlifting he sacrificed a lot to make sure he put on a great show. I was honored to be part of his Richmond Open last year and was going to sponsor this year's contest as well. It is very unfortunate to lose a fellow like Phillip. He will be greatly missed. Please join me in praying for his family and friends in this time of sorrow and loss. I will try to get more details tomorrow.
