From Powerlifting Watch:
Lifter Rankings- Jon announces changes to lifter Rankings;
Due to demand, I've added the 2008 Lifter Rankings to the existing Current Lifter Rankings and 2007 Lifter Rankings. The 2008 Rankings will not initially include the top 50 lifts (top 20 for women) but will be built out as lifts are added throughout the year. Please also be aware that only lifts which will likely be in the top 50 at the end of the year will be included in these Rankings.
The Current Lifter Rankings are the top 50 (top 20 for women) lifts in the past 12 months broken down by weight class and equipment.
APA News:
WPA Worlds- Scott Taylor (President, APA) provides a WPA Worlds update;
The WPA Worlds are coming up in May in Fair Haven, Vermont. So far we have teams from Guatemala, Republic of Georgia, Ukraine, and Canada registering and information requests from several other countries.
Those wishing to meet lifters from other countries and compete in a Worlds against somebody other than lifters from the home state or a neighboring state may want to consider signing up.
This event is shaping up to be a great show. If people are coming in from other countries lets show them a variety of Americans to go against, make new friendships with lifters from other nations etc.
We will be presenting some outstanding awards at this competition and it is in a very beautiful and scenic part of the country with lots of things to do and places to explore while your up there. Hope to see some of you there.

2008 Arnold Sports Festival Wrap-up: by Matt Gary, Mid-West team coach, Quest American Pro Invitational
The Arnold Sports Festival celebrated its 20th year of excellence in showcasing a variety of sports performance. The festival is held annually in Columbus, Ohio on the first weekend in March. This year’s celebration was held Friday, February 29 through Sunday, March 2, and hosted 39 events including 14 Olympic sports.
USA Powerlifting joined the festival this year and put on a tremendous display of competitive powerlifting that included lifters from the United States, Canada, Europe, and Japan. Four separate competitions were contested in three days beginning with the Raw Challenge on Friday. Spectators witnessed more than 30 lifters competing in the unequipped competition with only belts, wrist wraps, and knee sleeves being allowed.
