Mid-week Maryland Powerlifting Report 10/11/07

Maryland Powerlifting:
Once again, I've been giving some thought to including information and news about federations who are not represented in our state. It has been my goal to provide information that would be of interest to powerlifters here in Maryland. In doing so, I've felt I've limited opportunities for the readers of this blog to read about events that are happening around us. Therefore, not presenting the "big picture". So, it is with that thought and beginning with this edition, I'll be including information about federations throughout the Mid-Atlantic states.

The Calendar: The calendar has been updated to reflect the current schedules in the Mid-Atlantic region as posted by; 100% RAW, ADAU, APA, APF, IBP and IPA. These updates include meets scheduled for 2008.

Taxing Health Clubs:
Kathy Lane reports- Hello, members and friends of the Colosseum Gym.

You may be aware that part of the Governor's plan to reduce the deficit is to tax health club memberships. I'm guessing that people who frequent the gym are fitness advocates and would obejct to such a tax. I object, and I have written letters to my state senator, my state delegate to the House of Delegates, and to the Governor.

I hope that you'll be interested in taking similar action. Therefore I have taken the liberty of enclosing copies of my letters, in case you'd like to have a template to work from.

Deadline to submit entry forms for the 2007 World Bench Press Championships is November 1. The date of the meet is November 17.

APA News:
From Scott Taylor- Those who are certified referee's please email me your mailing address. My email addy is scott@apa-wpa.com . I am putting together a referee database for meet directors and state chairs. Many moved and did not send their new addresses and several took online exams but never followed through with the instructions sending your address after passing the exam. I tried to contact some via email only to find that they had changed email addresses and could not be contacted. We need contact information in order to utilize those who pass the exam. Thank you
