Maryland Powerlifting Report 11-1-07

More: From the 3rd Annual Halloween Open BP Championships

It was family, friends and fun at the 3rd Annual Halloween Open Bench Press Championships in Westminster, MD. Lisa Wallace (pictured) of Westminster, MD took home the 1st Place trophy in the 123lb weight class with a 115 lb bench press.

From Shelly Fulton (Family Center Manager):
The Westminster Family Center held its 3rd Annual Halloween Bench Press on Saturday, October 27, 2007. A great crowd of friends and family members came out to support the 35 lifters who lifted in this competition. Competitors came from Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia. Of those, 13 were from Westminster. GNC & Training Weiss partnered to provide each of the contestants with a commemorative t-shirt. GNC also provided each contestant with a great supplement package and each division champion with a $25.00 gift card. Division champion results were obtained using the Schwartz formula to factor in body weight and age.

Special thanks go out to our sponsors: GNC, WFC, Training Weiss, Wal-mart, Weis & Safeway Markets. Special thanks go out to our director, Scott Bixler who happily volunteered many hours of preparation & promotion. Our judges, Brad Myers, John Warehime & Chris Weiss did an excellent job. Our master of ceremonies, Jim Roberts came all the way from Bowie to lend his support. Who knew that these gentle giants would be so willing to volunteer their time & expertise in the name of power lifting? Our loaders Mike Staub and Joe Hanson lent more than their hands to help, and our administrators, Shelly Fulton, Eva Minton, Beth Lande, and Mr. and Mrs. Norman Taubenfeld helped to keep the event running smooth as silk. All of the staff volunteered their time in order to designate more funds to our charity, Access Carroll. And a heavyweight thank-you goes out to all the contestants who came out to support the cause.
