Raw Unity Meet:
Eric Talmont has released a second news letter concerning his efforts to organize a "Raw Unity Meet." (word doc)
In this edition, Eric offers more in-depth information concerning this meet. He addresses the knee wrap/knee sleeve issue and what will be allowed. He has entered into an agreement with the Double Tree Hotel in Tampa, FL to use that facility as the site of the meet. There will be a "bench only" division and a women's division. Ed Coan has agreed to serve as a referee. He list sponsors and those he intends to contact soon. And he includes a list of lifters he still wishes to contact.
There is an error in the transcript and Eric posts a retraction at Powerlifting Watch which reads; "It should have read that those chosen to do the drug tests will be required to pay for the test if it shows a POSITIVE result, and not a negative one. I apologize for the confusion."
Raw Dogs Meet:
BMF has announced that APT will increase the $100.00 sponsorship award being offered to the two top finishers at the Raw Dogs Strong Arm Open by adding another $100.00 to that award, thus doubling the amount. In addition, APT will also offer an award to two more lifters of $100.00 each.
This meet will be held on October 6th in Leesburg, VA at the Gold's Gym.
Critical Bench Interview:
Interview With Big Bencher Curtis Dennis Jr. aka "The Brute" As told to CriticalBench.com by Ben Tatar - August 2007:
CRITICAL BENCH: Hey everyone, Critical Bench is here with powerlifter and established writer from bodybuilding.com Curtis Dennis Jr. Before we get started what is your height and weight?
Currently as of this interview I am 6-0, 308.-315
CRITICAL BENCH: Very cool. What type of bench shirt do you use and why?
Currently I have 2 bench shirts. I use a metal pro Viking and the Inzer Rage X. Right now I wear a Rage X. I prefer the Inzer Rage X because the groove is a lot lower than the metal and the groove isn't hard to find either...
CRITICAL BENCH: Got ya. What is your advice for someone who wants to get the most out of the Inzer Rage X or in any bench shirt in general?
My best advice is to get a single-ply shirt and work it! Don't change up. Train in it and practically live in it. This was hammered into me a good bit by my good friend, Tim James out of Tampa Barbell. It's something I most definitely recommend if you're going to use one...
CRITICAL BENCH: Curtis, what fed do you compete in and why?
Here in the south, we don't have a lot of choices but the APF is pretty much where I'm at.
