MarylandPowerlifting Report 9/24/07

Update: USAPL Maryland State Powerlifting Championships
Entry forms will be available later this week. I'm still speaking with the lodge concerning serving food and beverages. At this time, the plan is for the lodge to serve hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and soda. I'm also shopping for meet tee-shirts. I'm seeking volunteers to help in various capacities. Please contact me if you can help. I'll need help moving equipment, set-up and disassembling the site.

Next Maryland Meet; Deadline is October 6 for the 3rd Annual
(Halloween) Open Bench Press Competition; Saturday, October 27, 2007. Proceeds to benefit Access Carroll (providing health care to the uninsured).


ADAU News:
Al Siegel announced announced the first scheduled meet of 2008:

A single lift meet, with all three lifts is scheduled for February 23, 2008.
Meet director is Sam Contakos, PO Box 1084, Johnstown PA 15907, 814-270-1464.
It's time for other meet directors to get their schedule poste.

APA News:
Scott Taylor (APA President) announced the date and location for the 2008 High School Nationals:

The High School Nationals will be held the weekend of April 5, 2008 in Oklahoma. We are working on the contract at the moment. This will be a 4-5 platform event open to high school lifters from any state in the country. We will also have high school team awards for those schools registering an entire team. Lots of RAW records as well as equipped teenage records will be set at this event. Specially designed sculptured awards will be presented and the entry fee is only $10!!! Start gearing up. Info and entry form will be posted online very soon.

Larry Maile (President, USAPL) announced members of the new Out of Meet Testing (OMT) Committee:

The new OMT Committee will consist of Cathy Marksteiner, Greg Page, Tom Allred, Deron Rogers, Donna Marts. George Bartotti will continue as the co-chair performing duties related to athlete notification of failure and coordinate further administrative procedures. Welcome and thanks to these volunteers for stepping up to assist with this, the most important aspect of our mission.
