News Letter 8/6/07
When Ed Coan pulls his final deadlift at the USPF Nationals this coming weekend in Los Vegas, it will bring a career in powerlifting to a close for one whose name has become synonymous with the sport. No one can talk about lifters or powerlifting without Coan's name being brought into the discussion as a measurement of any one accomplishment. For it is he who set the standard that others attempt to achieve. There have been articles and interviews, to numerous to list, that have been published and yet despite the plaintive approach Coan had towards training and competing, no one has come close to achieving the results he displayed in piling up championship after championship over his 25 plus year career. Still, in a sport where each who have been successful has learned to find the approach that works best for them, curious seekers will continue to interview and analyze Coan for years to come.
So it will be with that quiet and calm determination, that all have observed at some point during his career, Ed Coan will mount the platform for his final battle for a championship on Saturday, August 11, 2007. It will be with that same quite and calm in the aftermath of yet another explosive attempt, that all who are there to see this legend compete for one last time, Coan will leave the platform when the last pull is done.
Good luck Ed Coan and thank you.
