News Letter-Mid Week Edition 7/19/07
In the aftermath of the recently held meeting of the USAPL's National Governing Board, Brad Madvig has started a survey to gauge the USAPL's members preference towards allowing or disallowing knee wraps. According to a report, the vote to remove knee wraps and allow knee sleeves "was fairly close" and "it was debated for a while." In what seems to have been an additional vote concerning the matter, the statement read; "it was voted that additional time would be allowed to discuss it further."
While it is expected that the decision made by the NGB will be popular with some and not received very well by others, it seems that Madvig has at least some hope of changing the decision made by the NGB. In announcing the creation of the survey he states; I have gotten a number of emails and chatted much about the removal of knee wraps from ungeared contests. Due to the passion of this discussion tt was proposed to me by a member of our leadership to put together a survey for this very subject."
Is it possible, by decree, to change the decision agreed upon by a vote by the NGB? It has been seen recently, with no explanation by the Executive Committee, the dismissal of the USAPL Technical Committee. Will this subject also become another very divisive issue and public relations nightmare for the USAPL?
For additional discussion on this matter, make comments at the message board.
For those competing in this Saturday's bench meet in Brentwood, Md; good luck and have a great time! The statement, which was issued by Robert Wilks on behalf of the IPF Executive Committee, is comprehensive and goes into depth explaining the causes which led up to the supensions and the efforts made by the two federations to have the sanctions lifted.

USAPL News:
Eliot Feldman has issued a clarification concerning the release of his notes taken from the NGB meeting:
"2)Motions to change the requirements to take National and IPF referees tests were defeated."
I need to add to the statement. The original motion to change the qualifications to take the National Referee Test was rejected but was amended and passed. One must now be a State referee for at least two years and the candidate must officiate 6 meets as a platform official, with at least one session as Chief Referee.
Sorry for any confusion.
