News Letter 2/26/07

On May 5, 2007, a dual sanction meet will be held in Johnson City, NY. Sanctions have been issued through the ADAU and 100% RAW. This past week, in an apparant attempt to promote this meet, Al siegel posted the following at GoHeavy.com :

Paul Bossi, President of 100% RAW Powerlifting and I, President of the Anti Drug Athletes United (ADAU) have finalized arrangements for a combined sanctioned RAW meet.
The meet is being held Saturday May 5, 2007 in Johnson City NY, and will be attended by judges from both organizations for record setting purposes.
The meet will have a full powermeet as well as a seperate bench press contest.
Lifters must have a membership card from either of the organizations (this is for insurance purposes) and they can lift in both organizations meets if they have both cards.
Several record holders have already committed to competing in both feds, so that they can attempt to break records in the other federation.
Talk has centered around future combined meets, which can make the east coast more solid with the RAW program that we have been running since 1999 as these two feds. Perhaps we might see a Unified National Powerlifting Championship run by one fed in 2008, with the other fed running a Unified Single Lift Nationals the same year.
Any lifter who is willing to lift RAW and is drug free for at least 5 years is welcome to attend and join one or both of the federations and enjoy the sport as it should be run.
Most importantly, just come and have some fun showing off how strong you really are.
Looking for a bigger and better future for RAW lifting, I remain yours in powerlifting.
Big Al

While it has been my intention to publish only news and not editorialize, I would be interested in hearing what others opinions are on this upcoming meet and if there may be additional opportunities for more growth in the direction of promoting joint sanction meets. A thread can be opened at the message board.
