Congratulations to the Maryland women and the successes they achieved at the 2007 USAPL Women's National Powerlifting Championships!
Cathy Solan- First Place M2 (48 kg) 110-57.5-127.5 for a 295 kg total.
Marlena Daniel- Second Place T1 (52 kg) 90-47.5-100 for a 237.5 kg total.
Sioux-z Hartwig-Gary- First Place Open (52 kg) 162.5-92.5-162.5 for a 417.5 kg total.
Caryn Daniel- Second Place M1 (67.5 kg) 117.5-70-142.5 for a 330 kg total.
Marsha Sierre- First Place M5 (75 kg) 105-47.5-147.5 for a 300 kg total

The Teen-Junior National Championship scheduled for March 10 in College Park, MD has been canceled.

IPF News:
On February 14, The IPF announced:
Vic Mercer from Great Britain has passed away on 28th January 2007, one day after his 87th birthday.In the eighties Vic played an important part in developing Powerlifting into a popular sport world wide.He was en excellent administrator and between 1982 und 1988 he was both IPF and EPF President. Vic was a great organizer staging one Men's and one Women's World Championship plus two Men's Europeans in the city of Birmingham. During the seventies and early eighties when Great Britain was in the forefront of international Powerlifting with lots of World Champions such as the great Ron Collins, Eddie Pengelly, Tony Stevens and winning the European team title for ten years in a row from 1978 to 1988 - it was mainly the merit of Vic Mercer.
The IPF owes Vic Mercer big thanks for all he did for world wide Powerlifting. We will remember him as one of the greatest leaders and administrators in our sport!
Condolences to his wife Amy and his family Vic jr.and Alison.
