News Letter 1/8/07

I've added a link to the list of "Links" to access the calendar from the Maryland Powerlifting blog. I've also updated (1/6/06) the calendar to include recently released forms, announced meets, changes in schedule (note-IPF Worlds) and cancellations.

I'm still working on the journal. I'm getting close to releasing it soon.

AAU News:
The AAU has released their proposed 2007 schedule. State, regional and national meets will soon be added to the Maryland Powerlifting calendar.

IPF News:
The IPF has announced that the 2007 IPF Men's and Women's World Championships that were scheduled to be held November 4-10, has been changed to October 14-20 and the host city will be Solden, Austria.

The IPF has also announced in a press release that they and Power on TV have formed "a partnership to provide a free world wide webcast of the bench press world championship on May 30 - June 2, 2007 held in Thisted, Denmark."

USAPL News:
USA Powerlifting is now offering a Coaching Certification program available to all USA Powerlifting members. They offer 3 levels of Coaching Certifications: Club Coach, Senior National Coach, and Senior International Coach. This should cover coaches from beginning to international levels.

Two clinics scheduled for 2007:
April 12 &13 - Killeen, TX
Nov 15 & 16 - Denver, CO

USPF News:
In a note posted at the USPF web site and message board, Dan Lass issued the following statement in announcing the State Powerlifting Championships and Bench Press Record Setters scheduled for January 13 has been canceled:

"I have received word that this meet has been cancelled due to a serious accident involving Jake Heglar.
Please join me in wishing Mr. Heglar a speedy recovery!"

Maryland Powerlifting also wishes Mr. Heglar a speedy recovery.

Dan Lass also announced that "forms have been posted for the Works Invitational on Feb 24th and the Pro Performance BP/DL Championships on April 14th." The forms can be accessed at "Upcoming Events" .
