News Letter 12/4/06

It was great seeing so many familiar and new faces at the USAPL Maryland State Powerlifting Championships on Saturday. For those who could not attend, I hope I can speak for all in saying we hope to see you at the next one! And for all the new comers, welcome and it is hoped you will find your Maryland Powerlifting experience rewarding and enriching!

100% RAW News:
December 9- 2007 World Powerlifting Championships, Burlington, Vermont. Single lift competition is included.

AAU News:
December 16-17- Los Vegas, Nevada 2006 AAU World Bench Press, Deadlift and Push-Pull Championships

APA News:
No information is available on the APA Maryland Open, Bench Press-Deadlift meet that was scheduled for California, MD.

Scott Taylor (President APA-WPA) reports that beginning January 1, competitions will include raw divisions. Wraps and belts will be permitted.

APF News:
Jeff McVicar (Maryland state Chairman, APF) has revamped his site . Efforts include a new forum in which Gene Rychlak, Jr announces a schedule of upcoming meets which includes an IPA Powerlifting and Bench meet on December 9 in Lessport, PA.

The most recent release of the WPO newsletter was made on November 30 by Mike Sweeney.

IPF News:
The IPF has released "examples to the new bench press ruless" which include photos of good and bad bench attempts.

Also released is an updated list list of suspended lifters and officials which includes seven German lifters who received warnings due to violating Rule 10.11

Elliot Feldman(Athletes Representative-USAPL) announced Tuesday, November 28 that the IPF has amended Rule 10.11 so that sanctions for violating are less severe; "For competing against an Athlete who have been expelled or is under a period of Ineligibility: Six (6) months Ineligibility commencing from the date of violation.

USAPL News:
Conngratulations to the Maryland State USAPL and the lifters for a successfully competed State Powerlifting Championships this past weekend. Around 30 lifters competed at the Student Union Building at Anne Arundel Community College in Arnold, Maryland.

Sioux-z Hartwig-Gary has posted pictures taken during her recent trip to Stavanger, Norway to compete in the 2006 IPF World Championships. Next stop, Baton Rouge, LA and the 2007 USAPL Women's Nationals. Good luck Sioux-z!
