News Letter 12/25/06

Merry Christmas!

It was my plan to publish a journal of my travels over the last year with this newsletter. As most know, up until earlier this year, I had been away from the sport for about six years and during the past year, I've visited various locations and attended meets sanctioned through the USPF, AAU, 100% RAW, the USAPL along with a non-sanctioned meet that was held in Columbia, Maryland for the benefit of Maryland Special Olympics. I'm still writing it and have not done edits yet. But, I feel it is interesting first hand look from the perspective of someone who does participate as a competitor, coach and official. I hope to have it ready for next Monday. I will likely post it at the message board. It is about 10 pages (Word doc) long at this point.

As I look ahead to the upcoming year, I plan to host the 100% RAW Teen/Junior Nationals in March. That meet is attracting a lot of attention and I'm feeling that it has the potential to showcase Maryland as a great choice to hold large powerlifting meets. Other than that, I foresee opportunities to continue my journey and perhaps check out meets held by federations other than the ones visited in '06. I'm also hoping we'll see more meets scheduled here in Maryland.

The President's message highlights many of the positives of the past year. Especially recognizing the importance of the Woman's Divison and grass roots lifters including the upcoming collegiate lifters.
