Priscilla and Wade Get Gold!

Wednesday’s three sessions of the 2006 IPF World Powerlifting Championships began with the Men’s 75 kg weight class where Wade Hooper won gold with a 347.5 kg World Record squat, a 225 kg bench and a 250 kg deadlift for a 822.5 kg total. Finishing second was Jacek Spychala of Poland with 785 kg. Wade is currently in 3rd place for Champion of Champions.

The Women’s 60 and 67.5 kg weight classes were competed during the second session. U.S.’s Jennifer Perry finished 7th in the 60 kg’s with a 435 kg total. In the 67.5’s, Priscilla Ribic hit gold with a 242.5 kg squat, a 130 kg bench and a 237.5 deadlift for a 610 total which was good enough to put her in first place in the running for Champion of Champions.

In the 3rd and final session of the day, David Ricks of the U.S. finished second in the 82.5 kg class with a 320 kg squat, a 205 kg bench and 320 deadlift for a 845 kg total. First place went to Jan Wegiera of Poland with a 872.5 kg total.
