100% RAW News:
From Paul Bossi (President)-
This has been an incredible year for us. The growth for the federation is coming in leaps and bounds in 2008. 2008 will show our 1st events in the following states: Texas, Kansas, Iowa, Arizona, Nevada and New Hampshire. We are also seeing interest in teams from Canada and Israel looking to come and compete at the Worlds this year.
Upcoming events are posted on the website with entry forms. Please visit the site to see which meets are coming up near you.
I will be hosting the North Carolina State Championships this year at Currituck High School. This year I am combining the Teenage states, powerlifting states and Bench state all in 1 meet. With gas prices and small turn out at recent meets in 2007 I feel that it is best to have fewer meets and include all divisions in them to get the numbers up. The deadline date for the North Carolina states is May 24th, the meet will be on May 31st the Saturday after Memorial day. Please get your entry form in on time. Last year we had 85 lifters and ran 3 platforms in which we were done by 3pm with 85 full powerlifters. That is a pretty awesome feat, you lifters know what I am talking about.
Our next 2 big meets are:
The National Bench/Deadlift /Curl Championships in Annapolis, MD on June 28th.
The full powerlifting Nationals will be run in Reno, NV on July 12th. We will also be running the West Coast Bench Press at this meet for the bench only guys.
I will be posting what the Ranking plaques look like so lifters can purchase them for any of the past 3 years. There will also be a form posted for you to fill out and return if you want to purchase any plaque.
Ron Wisdom of Vermont has taken on the task of starting the Master Rankings. Keep posted as they will be posted soon after he is done going through the 2008 results.
Please get the entry forms in on time as this helps the meet directors plan for their events.
Records are being updated as quick as we can. With so many meets it is hard to update weekly like in the past. Please have patience with us during these tough times.
This years World Powerlifting has been changed to November 1-2 in Hagerstown, MD Meet Directors (Kevin Prosser, Dan Corridean) and the Bench Worlds has changed locations after 6 years in Currituck. Because of the interest in this event we have moved within 5 minutes from the Norfolk airport and will be going to a 2-day event. Bench on Saturday and deadlift and curls on Sunday. I am expecting 200 lifters with 50 or more coming from Europe and Canada.

APF News:
Qualifying Totals- Amy Jackson (APF/WPC/WPO Office Manager), has announced that qualifying totals have been "lowered back down to the previous numbers";
The totals for the APF and AAPF are being lowered back down to the previous numbers at this time.
All the lifters that couldn't acheive the total required to compete at Seniors in Omaha can now do so.
The totals may be adjusted somewhere in between the old numbers and the increased numbers sometime in the future but for now we are adjusting them back down. There also is no qualifying total for the bench only division.
Remember there still is time to enter.
Support BIG and get your entries in now.
