News Letter 6/25/07

Wow! It has been a slow couple of days for a change.

With a couple of meets approaching, I will start off this edition in explaining the definition of raw lifting in the USAPL:
1) Approved wrist and knee wraps are allowed.
2) You may use an approved belt.
3) A singlet and shoes which meet IPF code are to be worn
4) When deadlifting, you must wear over the calf socks. However, they may not touch the knee. Thin shin guards may be used under the socks.
5) When benching or squatting, you must wear a tee-shirt.

Keep in mind that the above may change after the NGB meets in St Louis in a couple of weeks. Check back here for udates.

Now updates surrounding the issues concerning the IPF TC News Letter No 4 and the USAPL firings:

Whether it was in response to negative reactions from the powerlifting community or simply an editorial mistake, the IPF has "revised" the release of Technical Newsletter No 4 2007. Under the sub-title, "World Open Bench Press (Bombers)," where it originally was written; " Unless the first attempt is a good lift, the lifter will not be permitted to continue." The proposal now reads; "The lifter will not be allowed to " increase the opening attempt " until such time as a lift has been approved."

And, while nothing official has been released concerning the "firing" of the USAPL Technical Committee, Jack Marcus, amidst the usual anti USAPL rhetoric found on any forum when opportunities present themselves, offered the following explanation at Powerlifting Watch:

THIS NAME CALLING AND SLANDERING MUST STOP!!!I do not post often but---My name is Jack Marcus IPF Catagory 1 Referee and past Co-Chair of the USAPL Technical Committee.
1. yes on June 14th the entire Technical Committeewas sent an E mail stating on that date at 2PM EST the USAPL Technical Committee is hereby dissolved".Whatever the reasons make one thing very clear.I, along with Regina Hackney still consider Robert Keller a friend.Oh, I fight with him tooth and nail about issues involving IPF rules, protocol, etc and I think he would be the first to tell you not to ask me for my opinion, because I will, with no holding back. The same goes for Regina. That doesnt mean I dislike Robert Keller, we still have dinner at meets, we still fight over ideas, sometimes he wins, sometimes I do. BUT THATS IT!!!Leave the name calling in the school yard.

Thank you! It was very helpful reading this information to complete a brochure for http://pimion.com/buy-term-paper/. I should had to write a set of rules for sportsmen in a powerlifting competition.
